Claudia & Sergi’s Elegant Bell Recó Wedding in Barcelona

An indoor ceremony beneath painted ceilings, drinks beside the garden pond and dinner under strings of lights: Claudia and Sergi’s Bell Recó wedding brought together the different sides of this remarkable venue in Barcelona. White and blue flowers, gold details and Claudia’s flowing bridal cape gave the celebration its classic character. Their two dogs walking down the aisle made it unmistakably theirs.

For us at VELAS Studio, the story had begun before the wedding, when we photographed their engagement session in Venice. Meeting them again at Bell Recó meant continuing a relationship already built on trust, with room for both carefully composed portraits and the laughter that filled their day.

Why Claudia and Sergi Chose Bell Recó

Claudia knew she wanted somewhere with a sense of occasion. She was drawn to a setting that felt grand, elegant and classic, and described finding Bell Recó as love at first sight.

Located in Argentona, in the province of Barcelona, the estate gave their celebration a distinctive backdrop: decorative façades, sweeping staircases, painted walls and gardens arranged around the house. Its architecture was central to the look they wanted, but their own choices made the setting personal.

They described their inspiration as “old money,” with a palette of white and blue and gold stationery details. Claudia made the stationery herself, from invitations to menus and place names. Those pieces brought something handmade and individual to the formal surroundings.

A Bridal Cape and a Classic Wedding Look

Claudia’s main wedding dress was paired with a long cape that fell from her shoulders. As she walked into the ceremony, the fabric extended behind her, creating a silhouette that suited the scale of the room.

Later, removing the cape changed the look of the same dress for the drinks reception. Sergi wore a dark blue suit, complementing the restrained colour palette without matching every detail too closely.

The changes continued into the evening, when Claudia moved into her party looks. Across the photographs, her wardrobe follows the rhythm of the celebration, from the formality of the ceremony to the freedom of the dance floor.

An Indoor Wedding Ceremony at Bell Recó

Claudia and Sergi held their ceremony inside the main house. Rows of gold chairs faced the staircase, with white and blue flowers lining the aisle. Above them, painted ceilings, arches and wooden galleries gave the room depth and warmth.

Photographing this part of the day meant paying attention to the room as well as the people within it. We wanted the images to hold onto its atmosphere while keeping the couple’s expressions and their families’ reactions at the centre of the story.

One of the most meaningful moments came when their two dogs walked down the aisle. Including them was deeply important to Claudia and Sergi. Among all the carefully chosen details, this was a moment about having their family together, in the fullest sense of the word.

For couples inspired by this ceremony, the photographs show the arrangement used for Claudia and Sergi’s wedding. Discuss your own ceremony plans and access to specific rooms directly with Bell Recó and your planner.

Drinks by the Pond and Portraits around the Estate

After the ceremony, guests gathered in the lower gardens beside the pond. From here, the house rises above the terraces and greenery, giving the drinks reception a very different atmosphere from the indoor ceremony.

This variety was one of the things we most enjoyed about photographing at Bell Recó. The piano room offered an intimate setting for portraits, with dark wood, paintings and soft directional light. Outside, the stone steps brought movement into the photographs, while the painted arches allowed us to include both the couple and the scale of the architecture.

Claudia and Sergi wanted a combination of spontaneous photographs and more composed, artistic portraits. Moving between these spaces gave us room to create both. Some frames focused closely on the two of them; others stepped back to show their place within the house and gardens.

If you are planning your wedding photography here, it helps to choose a few locations you particularly love and discuss how they fit into the day. The piano room, staircases and garden views each offer something different, and access and light should shape the final plan.

An Outdoor Reception in White and Blue

Dinner took place outside in front of the house. Round tables were dressed in white linen, with gold chairs and flowers in shades of white and pale blue. Candles and glassware added detail without competing with the façade behind them.

As daylight faded, the strings of lights above the tables and the illuminated house changed the atmosphere. The wider photographs show the full setting, while the closer frames return to what was happening within it: conversations, laughter and Claudia and Sergi sharing the evening with their guests.

For anyone imagining an outdoor wedding reception in Barcelona, this part of their celebration offers a concrete example of how the setting can look from daylight through to dinner after dark.

From Venice to Bell Recó: Photographing Claudia and Sergi

Having photographed Claudia and Sergi in Venice, we already knew how much they valued the creative side of their photographs. Their wedding gave us the chance to build on that connection while documenting the people closest to them.

In a personal letter, they described their experience with us:

“Diego and Oriana, from the very beginning you have made us feel at home with your warmth and dedication. […] For you, it is not simply about taking photo after photo, but about creating memories with soul.”

— Claudia & Sergi

Those words mean a great deal to us. Alongside the portraits and the setting, we want couples to remember how it felt to be there: comfortable with us, connected to each other and surrounded by the people they love.
